The Board of Elders, with the Pastor, shall be responsible for the spiritual life of the church. Its duties shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
2. Assisting at the Sacraments of Baptism and Communion and at the reception of new members.
3. Making decisions concerning sanctuary decorations and devotional literature.
4. Overseeing the music program and providing substitute organists.
5. Scheduling and instructing ushers and greeters in their duties.

Overseeing the
providing of flowers, candles, and other worship aids.
2. Acting as liaison between Pastor and congregation.
3. Negotiating pastoral desires and concerns.
4. Evaluating the Pastor’s and the congregation’s goals and performances.
5. Recommending the Pastor’s salary to the Board of Property & Finance.
C.
General Spiritual Welfare
1. Providing substitute and interim pastors.
2. Initiating and approving worship services for special occasions such as Lenten services, Maundy Thursday, and Christmas Eve.
3. Planning and initiating programs for spiritual nourishment and growth.
4.
Determining and recommending monetary needs for spiritual life
programs and materials.
D. Evangelism and Church Growth
1. Setting the tone for friendliness and neighborliness.
2. Welcoming and caring for strangers.
3. Greeting new and old members.
4. Planning programs and materials to attract new members.
5. Integrating new members into church life.
6. Maintaining an accurate membership list.
7. Maintaining church discipline which includes determining criteria for active and inactive status and requirements for members to be considered “in good standing”.
